Cryoport was looking to modernize their home-grown application called Cryoportal. This is an end-to-end logistics application that takes customers’ orders and provides the necessary shipper, dewar and ancillary materials for shipment and maintains customer-required temperature specifications during shipment. The refactored version of Cryoportal would need to interact with several external systems for fetching data such as shipment pricing, tracking, device monitoring, etc. All of this had to happen in real-time and in a very secure and reliable manner. The Cyroport team also needed to be able to handle large volumes of data in an efficient and effective way and provide real-time information, continuous tracking and monitoring of the shipments.
